Teach your kid how to code with this awesome coding robot
If you have a child in your life, one of your biggest wishes for them is to see them succeed. With computers becoming a larger part of life every day, it's important to give them the tools they need to navigate them. Coding is a useful skill that can be hard to teach little ones to give them a leg up, but now there's a new way to do it.
Devices have become a great way to keep kids busy when you’re busy or out in public. And understandably so. You love having the world at your fingertips, so why shouldn’t they? Just as it’s difficult to get yourself to disconnect, it can be hard to reduce a child’s screentime. What if there was a way to teach them valuable skills and reduce screen time? Look no further than Mochi Robot, the screenless coding robot for ages 3-6.
With the prevalence of computers and electronics everywhere, it’s hard to escape staring at a screen. It’s become commonplace to see people walking along busy city streets with their eyes practically glued to their phones. We’re bombarded with messages and information all day long, and it makes it hard to disconnect. And kids follow in our footsteps. This coding game makes it a bit easier to change that.
Meet Mochi the coding robot
Mochi is the educational kit you need to teach your child valuable skills that could help them throughout their entire life. Mochi Bear is bound to be a new favorite for your child. They will learn how to code through the engaging adventures of Mochi Bear in 5 steps.
Step 1
Your child will choose the adventure they want to go one from one of the 12 books included in the coding robot educational kit.
Step 2
Your child will get to design their Mochi. The kit comes with custom craft pieces, or you’ll be able to create endless designs with your own LEGO pieces. You’ll be able to create a new Mochi every time. And we all know how easily kids get tired of things.
Step 3
Now you get to program Mochi. You’ll create algorithms and sequences with your child to navigate the adventure story they’ve chosen.
Step 4
Listen to Mochi’s feedback. Mochi will play different songs and sounds as it executes the sequences and algorithms.
Step 5
It’s time to debug. You and your child will alter the sequences and algorithms based on Mochi’s feedback until you have safely delivered Mochi Bear to its destination.
What’s included with the Mochi Robot coding game
Mochi Bear
Mochi Bear will be your child’s guide during the story and coding adventure. It will be their job to deliver Mochi Bear to his destination.
A LEGO-compatible robot
You’ll finally be able to put all of those extra LEGO pieces to good use instead of them lying around for you to step on in the middle of the night. Use them to decorate and redecorate this coding robot over and over.
Coding blocks
These blocks are the hands-on physical code that will tell Mochi what to do. They come in a wooden case so you can store them neatly for safe-keeping.
Programming board
This board is where your child will create their first lines of code and begin their coding adventure—and, hopefully, a lifelong love of coding. This is your command center for running Mochi.
Story books
These educational story books will teach your child more than just coding. Your child will recieve important eduation in these books, and these books will direct Mochi Bear’s adventure.
Story maps
Mochi Bear will travel on his robot on these maps. They are made out of durable cloth and are 1 meter by 1 meter.
Storyteller
You won’t have to be the storyteller for once. This is your SD card that contains songs, music, and surprise feedback.
Craft pieces
Get even more creative with your coding robot’s design with these craft pieces. Your kid will never tire of Mochi with all of the ways they can customize their robot with these craft pieces and their own LEGO pieces.
Your child will learn valuable skills
One of the greatest things about Mochi is that it’s screenless. You’ll be able to have hands-on, creative play with your child without an iPad, TV, or smartphone. Your child will learn to code, which teaches them strategy and critical thinking.
We need STEM more than ever, and you’ll be setting up a great STEM foundation for your child with these coding tools. Your child will be engaged on multiple levels while they’re learning important skills for the future. With Montessori-style learning, they’ll be able to learn at their own pace. And we all know kids have fairly short attention spans. They’ll learn focus and concentration, which will be invaluable as they get older.
It’s more than just a coding tool with the adventure books
The adventure books cover a diverse array of subjects. Your child will not only be learning how to code with this coding game, they’ll be learning basic subjects and having fun doing it. The 12 adventure books include the subjects: planets, earth, biology, words, shapes, animals, letters, good habits, numbers, fruits and vegetables, time, and colors.
What we ❤️
We love that this game is gender neutral. Many sets that teach children STEM skilles are skewed one way or the other. We also love that this game teaches more than just coding, and the fact that it is getting kids so little to code is amazing.
We also love that Mochi is made with 100% natural and biodegradable wood-based materials. Your child will be safe playing with it, and you can teach them about sustainability while you’re at it.
What we would ❤️ to see in the future
We’d love to see a version of Mochi that is geared toward children who might be in the 7-10 range. It’s fantastic to teach younger children the basics of coding, but not all parents are able to start their childen when they are so young. A game that might be a bit more independent for older children would be fantastic to see.
Get Mochi now
Mochi is guaranteed to ship by Christmas if you get it now. And with a price of $179 on Kickstarter, you’ll want to put this one on your list. Spend part of the holiday break away from screeens and teaching your child how to code.
