Voyager Is the Ultimate Smart Light for Video and Photography

Every day, the sun works hard for photographers around the world. It provides soft morning light, bright overhead illumination and stunning sunsets. Yet there are still times when natural light is just not enough. The Voyager independent smart light is made for these occasions — and any other time you want to add some color. This tube light offers unprecedented control thanks to great software and multiple lighting modes. It’s perfect for creative photo and video shoots, and it can even dive under water.

– Light automatically connects to your phone and detects other lighting sources

– Choose any color, and program the light strip with animations

– Manual mode allows photographers to take full control

Ultimate Smart Light

Lighting is half the battle for any visual creative. While a warm glow evokes memories of sun kissed holidays, cooler shades should be reserved for drama or bleakness. Mimicking these effects with artificial lights is easily done when there are 30 people on your film crew. But for the average photographer, working single-handedly, lights are another difficulty to overcome.

Voyager is designed to make life easier for creative photographers and independent filmmakers. It’s a light strip made by the people who created the lightsabers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Just like those fictitious weapons, this glowing baton needs no wall socket. The light runs on battery power, and it can be controlled not with The Force, but with your phone.

Imperious Illumination

The “smart light” moniker is no idle claim. You need only point your phone at Voyager to take control. The light strip also detects other nearby light sources to stay perfectly in sync. Consequently, you can create stunning displays made from these LED tubes, without needing the knowledge of a professional lighting technician.

The companion app has a multitude of useful features. Firstly, you can choose any color on the RGBW spectrum. The on-screen color wheel gives you fine control over brightness and saturation. You can see your whole lighting setup on one screen, and easily set up lighting sequences. Along with mobile, the app will be released for desktop computers.

Voyager can be used for creative portrait shoots, better video and lighting effects after dark. Photographers will particularly love the manual flash mode, which can be timed to 1/500th of a second. The light comes with its own diffusion tube, and you can also use your favorite filters from LEE or Rosco.

There are two versions of Voyager. The smaller model has 39 pixels. It measures two feet long and weighs around 2.4 pounds. The larger is double the length and weight, with 83 pixels on board.

Both versions are battery powered and easy to transport. Incredibly, you can even take your light strip underwater.

“Voyager is ideal for photography. A single operator workflow is much simpler with all the light controls under your fingertips. The animation feature can be used for long exposure takes. Voyager has a manual flash function, and it is possible to time it down to 1/500th sec.” — Voyager on IndieGoGo
