Mooz Transformable Metallic 3D Printer

Editor's Rating
4.9?
Discovered on 2017-11-07

Do more with less space with the Mooz Transformable Metallic 3D Printer. Build with industrial grade parts, it’s an extremely accurate consumer 3D printer. In fact, it’s precise down to 0.02mm. Mooz allows you to easily switch between CNC carving, laser engraving, and 3D printing with its interchangeable modules. Plus, the drag and drop software makes it easy to use no matter your experience level. The Mooz 3D printer has 3 different modes. Mooz-1 is for basic 3d printing. Mooz-2 offers you unparalleled precision in CNC carving and laser engraving. And Mooz-3 is a very quick and efficient printer, which also works with color mix printing. With all of this functionality at your fingertips, the Mooz is very affordable and accurate for all of your needs.

A little addition:
The only 2 locations where Mooz specified conditions for the upgrades were the FAQ and the comments. I already sent you the quote from the FAQ, here is one from the comments (November 3rd, 2017) "2. Transforming from Mooz-3 to Mooz-1, since they all have 3 linear guide, the cost is still the same, USD 100
3. Transforming from Mooz-3 to Mooz-2, since Mooz-2 has one more linear guide, the cost is USD100+50= USD 150"

@Manic From the FAQ:
"Transforming from Mooz-3 to Mooz-1, the cost is still the same, USD 100" In the comments, we were also told that these 100$ were for the Mooz3-specific accessories.

Yes I am aware that a Mooz-1 needs only 3 actuators. I ordered a Mooz-3 and a Mooz-3 to Mooz-1/2 upgrade. My problem is that if I want to convert my Mooz-3 into a Mooz-2, I need 4 actuators, but I only have 3.

Mooz-1 only needs 3 actuators

@Miguel
12v adapter and main control board for Mooz 1 & 2 are contained in Mooz 3 box and linear actuators missing in Mooz 3 box are the ones contained in Mooz 1 & 2 box.
Since Mooz 3 is an upgrade, it seems dobot took away parts from both boxes and first impresion is that there are missing parts.

Looks like I am missing a 4th actuator!

Hi I received my Mooz3 and Mooz3 to Mooz1/2 upgrade today. I am missing parts too! I will check the list of items that should have been included and post later.

Review from Kickstarter
Shortlived was my joy on reveiving the Mooz 1, 2 & 3. Missing parts in the shipment, so now I have an incomplete kit.
Mooz 1 & 2 missing: 12v power adapter, Main control board. Mooz 3 missing: 3 identical Linear actuators.
Can anyone help me asap?

Well, what I found out so far: it seems that the Mooz-3 supports the M165 G-code command - with A defining the factor for cyan, B the factor for magenta and C that for yellow. With greetings from Germany, A. Rozek

Wow - two days ago, I got my Mooz-3 - and I'm really impressed by the hardware I got! A color mixing printer for that price, that's really a bargain! But now, I'm interested in finding out, how I can control the three different extruders individually: what G-codes does the Mooz-3 support? My initial experiments (e.g., with T1/T2/T3) weren't successful. Could you, please, provide some technical information about what G-codes you support? Thanks in advance for your effort! With greetings from Germany, A. Rozek

Received both today: tracking numbers and packages. Delivery is by dpd. Opened the packages: one is partly Mooz 2, one partly Mooz3. Hope this will make one working machine at a time (e.g.one powersupply but two power cables...)

For the records: I have received (At last!) two tracking numbers, one for the Mooz 2 and another for the Mooz 3. Check Your emails, may be this time we we will receive or rewards!

Thanks Joaquín for the news. I can understand that they no read this channel... but only if they have finish their dutys with all of us!

Looks like one person got sick and full customer service went dark (talking about FB group as it looks no one in Mooz reads this channel anymore) to inform us there were two package missing that has been delaying the full siphment for all Mooz3 to Euro zone.
Latest news is that we will be getting a tracking number within next 24 hours.
No words about those missing packages, so probably someone will not get a tracking number.

Mail to Dobot: no response, post here: no response, no track number, no printer pack. Please, could somebody from Mooz team give us answers? I have bought the new laser head months after the project was begining to send rewards, and has come to me before the printer, even having delay for certifications in Europe!

@Timo Zikeli The main problem is not the touchpad. The main problem is that one of the motors does not come back when it should. It keeps going forward and eventually hit the limit of the rail. I made some troubleshooting and the motor itself works when I plug it on another socket. This means the problem comes from the socket or from the board inside but the support still sent me a new motor. And for this useless package I had to pay ~65$ (38$ for shipping + taxes). This mean I was even wrong in my previous comment and I have actually paid this paperweight ~515$. I won't bother with it if I can't be sure to get the right spare parts even though I have to pay ~15% of the original price each time. I had joined the facebook group but they can't fix broken parts. And I want to post it here just in case somebody is interested in buying this because there should not be only positive reviews here when problems exist.

Do you know that you have to put the SD card into the back of Mooz, not the touchpad?

@mooz,
Regarding Mooz 3 to Europe, Is it asking too much that you contact us with whatever the status is about our printers? You gave 48 hours and it has been more than a week with no news. This lack of information makes us think our printer is not coming.
It seems that you are too bussy at expositions around the world and contests, putting there all your resources and you forgot about those that backed your R+D mooz project.
Please, TELL US SOMETHING!

Thanks Joaquín, no track number on my side yet. Probably we have not understand right: they wana mean send by sheep, not ship ;-)
Pierre LLENSA
Review from Kickstarter
I should not have supported this project. The printer did not work past the 0 point calibration and the support sent me a spare part which was no better than the broken part I had (the touchscreen part has never read any SD card) and a useless part because they apparently have not read the explanation I wrote in my mails. 450$ is quite expensive for a paperweight.

Una just posted this into the Facebook group: 1. About MOOZ-3 shippment, almost all backers would get the package recently, except for european backers, which will get the tracking number in the end of this month.
2. About MOOZ-3 problems, we would update series tutorials for this product, if you don't know how to use it, please refer to the online user manual first: https://www.dobot.cc/downloadcenter/dobot-mooz.html…, make sure that you follow all guidelines.
3. About upgraded packages, if you're disappointed with the upgraded package, please ask for return and refund, you will get full refund.
4. About after-sales team, currently we only have one aftersales people in office to reply all customer questions from all DOBOT products, not only for MOOZ. If your questions can't be answered within 48 hours during business days (we're not working during weekend), please forward your previous email to info@dobot.cc, i would find way to help you solve it. Other technical supports are on overseas shows. We have over 15 overseas shows in different countries, therefore it's very hard for us to reply those questions in time. Sorry about that.
Please understood that we're trying our best to service you well.
Thanks

I pledged for Mooz-3 and a conversion kit to Mooz-2 with a CNC module
Timo Zikeli

@Eirikur
Did you only pledge for Mooz3 and no Mooz 1/2? Or did you pledge for Mooz 1/2 and added a conversion kit to Mooz3 for 100$?
Because you can‘t use the CNC module with Mooz3.

So... I got my Mooz-3 today. Took about an hour to asemble and now its printing happily... No problems there However I added a conversion kit and a CNC module to my pledge and they sent me the normal 3d print head and no CNC module...

@Fayge Maybe lower the retraction speed, clean the extruder or increase the nozzle temperature.

Hey guys. My extruder makes a clicking/knocking sound during retraction. Could this be a simple fix, or may my printer be a defect?

Please join our Facebook group to get help instead of rating the product first. Nearly all of us managed to get great results, so it‘s not about a bad product but maybe a wrong configuration or a problem especially with your device. You find the link to our FB group in nearly every recent update.

hey, if anyone is interested in buying this, don't bother.
The machine quality is really bad. I only manage to print a couple.
Then the machine just goes haywire.
And they don't even reply me email.

@Timo, I was able to get it to print with Sascha's advice, but when I set the flow rate differently, it doesn't show up. I use Cura 3.2.1. If my flow rate doesn't show up, what other settings have I set that the printer isn't following? Dobot needs to give a sheet of what settings can be changed on the printer.

Same here, 70% of the bed area work great, but the rest is bumpy and deformed. The Print quality is ok in the reduced room but the support turnback time is very very bad.
