HTC has unveiled two VR headsets— VIVE Pro 2 and VIVE Focus 3—which will both be launching next month. All-new VIVE Focus 3

Introducing the VIVE Pro 2 and VIVE Focus 3—HTC’s latest ergonomic and high-performing VR headsets. They’re an upgrade from their predecessors, offering higher refresh rates, improved audio quality, and a wider field of view. Discover what to expect from these VR headsets below.

VIVE Pro 2 offers a higher refresh rate and resolution than the original VIVE Pro

Featuring a 120-degree field of view, 120 Hz refresh rate, and premium 5K fidelity (with 2.5K resolution in each eye), the VIVE Pro VR headset is a huge upgrade from the original VIVE Pro, which offered a 90 Hz refresh rate and 110-degree field of view. But these specifications aren’t the only standout features of the VIVE Pro 2; it also supports Display Stream Compression, which is a first for a VR headset. This technology reduces the bandwidth to minimize motion blur. While this upgraded VR headset includes some promising specifications, you’ll need a high-performing PC to drive that 4,096 x 2,448 screen if you want a smooth refresh rate.

Additionally, this VR headset includes a double-lens design. Yes, that means two lenses for each eye, which are stacked on top of each other. This design is responsible for the generous field of view while ensuring that there are no blurs around the edges.

This VR headset uses an ergonomic design for maximum comfort. Receive adjustable straps and sizing dials, and adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD). This VR headset also includes Hi-Res Audio Certified headphones with 3D spatial sound. Or you can connect this headset to your preferred headphones. It’s also slightly sleeker and more compact than the original VIVE Pro, although the company has yet to announce the official dimensions and weight.

The VIVE Pro 2 will be available to pre-order from today for $799 on HTC’s official website, ready for a launch on June 4.

VIVE Focus 3 features a 5K screen and 90 Hz refresh rate and is a set up from the VIVE Focus Plus

The VIVE Focus 3 includes a 5K screen, 120-degree field of view, and a swappable battery. This VR headset is an upgrade from its predecessor, the VIVE Focus Plus, and boasts similar features. For example, it uses inside-out tracking, which is specifically created for business customers.

There’s no doubt that the biggest focus for the VIVE Focus 3 is its display. It features a 2,448 x 2,448 panel on each eye with a generous 90 Hz refresh rate. This is a boost from the VIVE Focus Plus’s 75 Hz refresh rate and 1,400 x 1,600 pixels per eye. Additionally, the VIVE Focus 3 has an additional 10 degrees for its field of view to expand your vision, even if only slightly.

You can also place this VR headset for extended periods, thanks to the active cooling mechanism and a thermal-optimized battery that won’t overheat for longer sessions and enhanced performance. In fact, you’ll want to wear this headset for longer, thanks to the swappable battery mounted on the back, which also provides better weight distribution. HTC also confirms that you’ll receive a two-hour battery life and quick-charge feature to add 50 percent battery in as little as 30 minutes. Once charged, the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chip keeps this VR headset’s performance at a high standard.

Similar to the VIVE Pro 2, HTC emphasizes high-quality audio with this headset. It features open-back, dual-driver speakers that deliver 3D spatial sound. For optimal sound quality, there’s a high-resolution 3.5 mm audio jack support available, too. Thanks to the directional speaker design, you’ll experience less sound leakage, ensuring that conversations are safe between you and a participant.

The VIVE Focus 3 will be available for $1,300 on June 27 from HTC’s official website.
