How to create a cozy space to make it through winter
Winter. Is. Coming. At least, in the Northern Hemisphere. And while it's technically been winter for a couple of weeks now, it hasn't quite felt like it. So you still have time to prepare for the cold to set in with these items to help you create a cozy space.
If you believe the Farmer’s Almanac on your bookshelf, they’re saying it’s going to be a rough winter. When it finally decides to show its face, that is. Here in the Midwest, we’re still waiting for it to kick in. Will there be another polar vortex this year in all of its -50° splendor? Just in case, it’s probably a good idea to spend some time prepping to make sure you have a cozy space to ride it out.
Sure, you have your hoodies and long johns (yes, people still wear those) and two pairs of socks, but if you’re looking to cut down on layers, we have just what you need to warm you up. Plus, who really wants to wear all of those layers around the house?
Stock up on these items and keep toasty until the spring thaw sets in.
ecobee SmartThermostat with Voice Control Intelligent Thermostat
One of the first things you need to do before winter sets in is to make sure you have a good thermostat. And if you’ve been working on setting up your smart home, the ecobee SmartThermostat with Voice Control Intelligent Thermostat responds to a variety of voice assistants. This is convenient because whether you use Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, this home thermostat will listen. The SmartThermostat can also tell how many people are in a room, and it will adjust its settings accordingly. And if you notice there are typically hot or cold spots in your home, place extra sensors in those spots. That way, this thermostat ensures you have an even temperature throughout your house.
SOFF Ultra-Soft Winter Comforter
The best cozy item you can buy for your home is a good blanket. Stay comfortable throughout the coldest season of the year with the SOFF Ultra-Soft Winter Comforter. This luxuriously soft blanket has a five-millimeter outer layer that feels like sheared fur for extra coziness. Made entirely of microfiber, this warm material is an ideal alternative to down. Not only does that make it cruelty-free, but this down-like comforter is also hypoallergenic. You can even machine wash it, making it easy to care for if it gets dirty.
PILO Purifier Air-Purifying Throw Pillow
No blanket is complete without a pillow. And this pillow serves double duty, which we love. Instead of buying yet another appliance for your home, use the PILO Purifier Air-Purifying Throw Pillow. Stuffed with an activated-charcoal foam called BlackStuff, this pillow eliminates bad smells and cleans the air in your home. Even more than just eliminating odors, this air-purifying pillow filters out germs, pollutants, humidity, and allergens. And BlackStuff is odorless and anti-microbial, so this throw pillow will stay clean as it filters your air.
Slumber – Breathable Bed Sheets
When it’s frigid outside, you want your bedroom to be warm. But you also need to be comfortable and not sweaty. Let your skin breathe while you sleep with the Slumber – Breathable Bed Sheets. Made from certified 100% Egyptian cotton, these sheets are woven with extra-long cotton fibers. This durable design has less chance of tearing or snagging, and the soft material ensures a great night’s rest. Their unique Percale weave allows your body heat to flow freely, making it an ideal choice for spring and summer too. The set also includes a customary Lavender Sleep Mist, which uses the finest all-natural ingredients to promote restful sleep so you can wake up feeling your best.
Zero Gravity Zen Bean Bag
Take that blanket and get comfy in the Zero Gravity Zen Bean Bag. Putting you at the perfect angle of 130° with your legs elevated above the heart, this NASA-inspired bean bag chair offers a total escape from a stressful day and icy winter traffic. By placing you at this angle, this space-age bean bag reduces spinal compression. Likewise, it enables you to keep your legs crossed without risking restricted blood flow and swelling. And, because it elevates your legs above your heart, your blood flow improves. As a result of the position, your lung capacity increases, and you’ll experience less muscle tension. It’s ideal for reading, playing video games, watching TV, meditating, or simply chilling after a long, cold day.
Embr Wave Wearable Personal Thermostat
Enjoy comfortable temperatures regardless of your surroundings with the Embr Wave Wearable Personal Thermostat. This winter accessory helps you warm up or cool down, making you feel more comfortable in any situation. Simply press a button, and Embr Wave will instantly provide you with thermal relief. It directly cools or warms the temperature-sensitive part of your wrist for efficient and immediate effects. Also, cooling or warming a single spot can increase your comfort level without adjusting your core temperature.
Navien Mate Bed Warmer
Now you and your partner can stop arguing over the nighttime thermostat setting. With the Navien Mate Bed Warmer, you each set a temperature for your side of the bed. This mattress topper uses energy-efficient technology to keep you warm throughout the night, without the cords of an electric blanket on top of you. In the same way you would with a diffuser, you fill this bed warming topper device with water. It’s connected to the mattress warmer, and it warms it up with the heated steam.
Greys The Outdoor Slipper Wool Boot
House slippers are made just a bit better when you can take them outside. And you can do that with the Greys The Outdoor Slipper Wool Boot. With a wool body and rubber sole, these slippers are both cozy and durable. Even in the ice and cold. The grippy rubber sole ensures you have safe shoes to take outside and grab the newspaper or mail. They’re available in charcoal, navy, and gray, and each pair of slippers has a leather pull tab on the back, which makes it easy to get them on and off.

Some appliances are necessary, but they are eyesores in your living space. The Invroheat Infrared Decorative Heater offers the benefit of a heater with the beauty of wall art. This infrared heater uses nanotechnology to provide efficient warmth in your room. In fact, this winter gadget manages to increase your room’s temperature by 10 to 15 degrees.
