The new pocket tools from StatGear are remarkably useful

Pocket tools come in many shapes and sizes. Some provide an endless list of features, while others keep things simple. But what matters most is quite how useful those provided tools are. How often do you leave home without a corkscrew, only to suffer deep regret at a later stage? That might depend on your drinking habits. In contrast, the Pocket Lumen flashlight and X-Grip tweezers from StatGear will probably come in useful every day.

Clever pocket tools

One of the issues with many pocket tools is size. While a two-inch blade is okay for opening packages, you can’t use it for cutting much else. Similarly, a stubby screwdriver will only be able to tighten easily accessible screws.

Perhaps that’s why StatGear has avoided lumping tools together. Although the Pocket Lumen light and X-Grip tweezers will happily hang from the same keychain, they are designed to be used independently.

Tweezer pleaser

The benefits of carrying a flashlight on your keychain are pretty obvious — but you might be wondering about the tweezers.

They’re pretty strong

Well, the X-Grip tweezers don’t look much like the ones that beauticians use. Made from titanium, they are better suited to first aid and pulling staples out of wood. Told you they would be useful.

If you do find an annoying hair or a misplaced eyelash, they will perform the required plucking duty as well.

Strong body, fine tip

Night sun

At just 1.77 inches long and 0.4 ounces in weight, the Pocket Lumen LED light is truly tiny. Despite such minuscule proportions, it delivers 30 lumens from within an anodized aluminum shell. The light is also waterproof to 3 ATM and surprisingly rugged.

Small yet powerful

You probably won’t confuse the Pocket Lumen for the sun. Even for walking any distance after dark, it’s a little underpowered. But for avoiding cracks in the sidewalk and finding your door key, it serves a purpose.

“Finding a good flashlight is hard. Finding a reliable flashlight that won’t add bulk to your pocket or weigh down your belt is even harder! We’ve done our best to help keep you geared up with a solid, super bright & reliable light that will live on your keyring and always be ready to shine!” — StatGear on Kickstarter

Smart design

StatGear’s focus on durability has paid dividends here. Despite being tiny, both tools are built to endure daily use and abuse.

Potential additions

With a design tweak, it seems feasible that these two tools could lock together in some way. That would surely make them even easier to carry.
