Hyundai Blue Link Smartwatch App Will Familiarise You With the Futuristic Vision of Starting Cars Using a Watch

No matter how grounded you be in your everyday style of living, that urge to live the life of a sci-fi hero always remain a hidden desire. Thanks to the contemporary world of innovation, mankind is slowly taking that step ahead towards living like Tony Stark. Now that we’ve already seen the wonders of virtual reality through smart glasses or experienced what it would be like to ride a hoverboard, that desire to survive like a sci-fi rockstar seems to be growing each day. It was just last week when CES 2015 literally blew off our minds with groundbreaking technologies and innovation concepts never heard or seen before. From connected cycles to skin monitors, there was something for every branch of your life.

Hyundai Blue Link app for smartwatches

While these gadgets pose to be a whole new purchase, what we are about to discuss is an app that can turn existing Android Wear smartwatches into a full-on remote control for your car. To be more specific, I mean the first and next generation Blue Link equipped Hyundai models. Introducing the Hyundai Blue Link Smartwatch App for those who wish to add some sci-fi drama to their daily lifestyle.

The Power of Remote Control for Cars on Your Wrist

The purpose of the Hyundai Blue Link technology has always been in empowering you with the ability to remote control your car from practically anywhere. So if it’s a winter morning and you don’t feel like wasting even one minute under the snow while your car engine starts, you can always turn it on while you’re still indoors and set the temperature of your car at a comfortable level.

While this technology was priorly available to Hyundai car users with the help of the corresponding smartphone app, the company now wishes to take a step forward by providing the app access for Android Wear smartwatch users too.

When the world is literally bursting with smartwatch sales which has already been predicted to have around 91.6 million smartwatch units sold globally by 2018, it’s probably the right time for this app to step into the limelight. As Barry Ratzlaff, executive director, customer connect and service business development, Hyundai Motor America says on the press release, “This new app expands Hyundai’s exploration into how wearable technology and Blue Link fit into a customer’s lifestyle. Connecting to your car through a smartwatch and voice recognition was previously something seen only in science fiction movies. Now, we can provide this capability to owners of Hyundai vehicles equipped with Blue Link.”

Super Easy App Interface With Voice Commands

The app is extremely easy to use on any Android Wear smartwatch. You can either tap on the icons or use voice commands to execute the remote functions on your car. These include features such as remote start, locking and unlocking doors or even finding your car in a crowded parking lot. To use the voice function, all you need to do is tap on the microphone icon and execute commands such as “Find my car” there onwards. In order to use the smartwatch app, you need to pair your smartwatch to your smartphone (that has the Blue Link smartphone app in it) via Bluetooth. The app has been recently demonstrated at the Pepcom’s Digital Experience and at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES®) on Samsung, Motorola, Sony and LG Android Wear smartwatches. Chris Ziegler from The Verge had covered it brilliantly. Feel free to take a look here:

So if you’ve already got a Hyundai and an Android Wear smartwatch, get prepared to experience a whole new style of remote controlling your car like a pro. Coming up this Q1 2015, this smartwatch app is a step forward towards driving like a star empowered with the magic of automatic control right from your wrist. Happy Gadgeting!
