xFyro xS2 Truly Wireless Earbuds Combine Design, Build Quality, and Convenience

Truly wireless earbuds have always seemed too good to be true. A few versions have come and gone with much fanfare and equal amounts of failure. They promise a typical Bluetooth experience but were instead plagued by all sorts of electronic gremlins. Nobody had perfected truly wireless earbuds…or had they? Enter the xFyro xS2. Not a well known (or known at all) name to the majority of consumer electronics, why would they be able to deliver where others had not? And why would somebody consider a unknown brand over someone like Apple? Well, I think the AirPods look stupid and that’s the only motivation I needed to look elsewhere. Thankfully, the xS2 Earbuds not only look good, they

– Have fantastic battery life

– Are waterproof

– Are easy to use

Eye Catching Packaging

If the xFyro xS2 Earbuds only worked well and sounded good, they’d be a decent choice. Fortunately, they look awesome too. The earbuds themselves are made out of a soft touch plastic which is very sturdy and fingerprint resistant. The exterior of each earbud has a power button and microphone and are clearly labeled as to which ear they should be used in, which is nice touch. I’ve had a few earbuds where the L and R are poorly marked and require more than just a quick glance to tell the difference.

Then there’s the carrying/charging case which really ups the premium factor on the entire package. The exterior is covered in brushed aluminum, it looks and feels great, while the earbud holding area is lined with gold chrome. It’s really well designed and well built overall, props to the xFyro team.

There is a size consideration when attempting to choose the xS2 Earbuds over traditional or Bluetooth earbuds. Traditional and Bluetooth earbuds will have smaller bits in your ear but then also have cables and a microphone which bulk to the overall package. I find the tradeoff to be extremely worth it; no wires is wonderful!

Easy To Use

Once again, I was careful to meter my expectations of the xS2 Earbuds because of previously unsuccessful truly wireless earbuds. Never fear, in my time testing these earbuds, I have not had any issues with connectivity, audio playback, audio quality or anything. The xS2 Earbuds have been absolutely perfect. I must note, there are a few different smartphones which have inherent issues with Bluetooth devices but this is not the fault of the xS2 Earbuds but rather the smartphone or the current Bluetooth standard. Hopefully, future Bluetooth standards will have fewer issues with interference or hardware limitations.

To pair the xS2 Earbuds, simply hold the power button on either earbud for 4 seconds and then connect to it on your smartphone. The other earbud just needs to be turned on and it will connect to the primary earbud automatically. So pain-free, so easy breezy.

The audio quality is better than other Bluetooth earbuds and I would say directly comparable with wired earbuds. For phone calls, I found the xS2 Earbuds microphones to actually perform better than any of my wired earbuds or headphones. Another note here: only one xS2 earbud can be used at one time for a phone call.

While the xS2 Earbuds do sport extra colors, they’re missing the classic silver option.
