Pocket Sized Power – The New Sony RX100 IV Compact Camera

Just the other day my friend asked me, knowing I quite like photography, what the best camera is for her, mentioning she wants to take great photos. I instantly told her to go for one in the range I use and she promptly reminded me that it’s for capturing her adventures and vacations. We threw around some brands and models and she found one that was on sale and I told her to go for it. Now, I hope you’re reading this, Trina. You need to forget all those models we talked about and check out the new compact camera from Sony – the RX100 IV.

Along with the previous cameras in this Cyber-shot series, varying in name only by numerical notation, the RX100 IV gives you stunningly clear images with all the bells and whistles. This camera was made for capturing your travels, vacations, and your every day.

RX100 IV body

Immediately apparent about this camera is the size. It’s slim and compact and, despite having all those bells and whistles, it doesn’t look like it requires a manual just to turn it on. Tucked inside the small exterior is the world’s first memory-attached 1.0-type stacked CMOS sensor. Layman’s terms: the revolutionary layout allows for more light light per pixel, giving all of your shots amazing precision in any condition. Use this hardware to produce 40x super slow motion as well as super high speed at 1/32000 second. Complete with an anti-distortion shutter, Sony have done the first step in technological progress: bring the tools reserved for the pros into your hands. The RX100 IV also features clip 4K video capability. Using the movie feature, you can shoot up to five minutes of video with breath-taking detail.

Staying true to the compact portability, carry-it-in-your-pocket theme, the RX100 IV goes without buttons for manual controls. Save for a single manual dial on the back and the option for manual focus, this camera does the work for you. Providing professional grade features to the camera has been complemented with peace of mind – no fiddling with shutter speed as you witness jumping dolphins or that perfect sunrise. This camera allows you to capture every moment while being in the moment.

Sony apple

Made of smooth magnesium-alloy, the RX100 IV doesn’t just look professional but it feels it, too. It has a pop-up viewfinder, a 180-degree tiltable LCD screen (great for selfies!), HDMI and MicroUSB ports, a built in Wi-Fi antenna to connect to your smartphone in seconds, and it’s outfitted with a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens. Unlike other compact cameras on the market, Sony didn’t scrimp on quality in order to master size. Instead, the durable and slim body paired with these professional features shows that the RX100 IV was built to last and to be in your hand, or pocket, wherever your adventures take you.

Whether you’re off to see the Grand Prix or the Grand Canyon (or just to see your grandma), the Sony RX100 IV will adapt and deliver stunning images and video. You can find out more and pick one up for your next adventure here.
