Sony’s PSVR 2 controllers are here with finger sensing and force feedback

Sony doesn't want you to just see a game in HD but feel every movement of the character you're playing. And their new wearable controllers could completely change how you game forever. Let's take an in-depth look into their core features.

Sony has not long revealed next-generation VR on Playstation, so it makes perfect sense that the brand would release a new controller for “stronger immersion with adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, finger-touch detection, and more”.

The brand claims that the PSVR 2 was built with the intention of changing how a game feels and not just how it looks or sounds. Let’s explore some of the key features of Sony’s PSVR 2 controllers and what you can expect.

PSVR 2 controllers what to expect

Experience a deeper sense of presence

Sony’s PSVR 2 controllers (one for each hand) allow you to interact with games with better presence and have a more human experience. As a result, the controllers come with a range of features that match their vision for next-generation VR games.

Adaptive triggers

One of the first features is adaptive triggers. The left and right controllers include an adaptive trigger button that adds tension when pressed. If you’ve ever played a PS5 game, you’ll understand the tension of L2 or R2 buttons when you hit them. When you apply that same mechanic to a VR controller, your gaming experience is amplified.

Haptic feedback

Sony’s new controller comes with haptic feedback that makes the gaming world more impactful. So when you’re traveling through a rocky desert, you’ll feel the difference through a physical experience.

Finger touch detection

Sony’s VR controllers can detect your fingers—even when you haven’t pressed in the areas where you position your thumb or fingers. This detection allows you to gesture more with your hands while playing—a feature that could completely change and improve your gameplay.

The controller’s innovative design

When looking at Sony’s new controller, perhaps the first thing you’ll notice is its unique design that sports an orb shape. This design allows you to hold the controller naturally while also experiencing plenty of freedom with movement. With no constraints to how you move your hands, it’ll provide a unique gameplay experience. And, who knows, its design may also prevent any soreness and fatigue after gaming for hours.

In fact, this VR controller is designed with ergonomics at its core. Its total weight balances well in each hand while remaining comfortable to hold for long periods.
