KANA-chan is the fast and easy way to grow veggies

Just like us, plants need oxygen in order to thrive. This new hydroponic growing system delivers all the O2 your veggies could ever want.

KANA-chan is the fast and easy way to grow veggies
  • Hydroponics is a method of horticulture where plants are rooted in water. It could be the future of food crop production.
  • In the US, more and more people are growing their own produce. Home-grown veggies are cheaper, and they usually taste better.
  • KANA-chan utilizes hydroponics to give your veggies a boost. This tomato-shaped pot lets you grow a variety of crops in the smallest of outside spaces.

There’s nothing quite like the taste of home-grown veggies. Of course, they are completely natural and free from chemical sprays. But more than that, it’s the TLC you’ve invested in these crops coming to fruition. As a result, they taste that much sweeter. Unfortunately, the coming to fruition part can take a looong time. KANA-chan is a hydroponics system that wants to speed things up. The tomato-themed tub pushes oxygen and liquid fertilizer to the roots of your plants, meaning the crop grows up to twice as fast. In addition, your veggies end up being sweeter and more nutritious.

While some people enjoy the constant watering and weeding that goes with tending their plants, most of us grow veggies for the end result. With unlimited space and time, you would be happy to wait for nature to take its course. But if you live in a north-facing apartment, your crops can take forever to grow and ripen.

Rather than dousing your crops in harmful chemicals, it makes sense to switch to KANA-chan. This innovative hydroponics system fits on the smallest balcony, and it helps your veggies grow at impressive speed.

What’s more, KANA-chan is the perfect method of horticulture for people who live busy lives. The only maintenance task is keeping the water level topped up.

Small yet effective

Quickstart garden

KANA-chan looks like a giant tomato — a nod to one of the many uses for this impressive little pot. To get started, you simply place your chosen plant inside KANA-chan and fill the internal water tank.

Instant growth

Inside, there are two sections: a cultivation tank for freshly aerated water, and a liquid fertilizer tank that stores nutrients. The pot has a built-in water pump that keeps the water circulating, meaning your plant gets all the oxygen and fertilizer it could possibly want.

Liquid fertilizer

As a result, your crops thrive. For instance, tomato plants can reach 2.5 meters tall (~8.2ft) in just a few months. You can also grow corn, pumpkins, melons, eggplants, peas, cucumbers, leafy greens, flowers, and even bananas.

Anyone for melons?

Just as importantly, KANA-chan is really small and easy to use. You can place it on the smallest balcony or even inside your home, near a window. There’s no soil mess to worry about, and all you have to do is check the water level every so often.

“The secret for growing plants cultivated with KANA-chan is in the roots. Because there is no resistance such as soil and bacteria, and the circulating system spreads oxygen and liquid fertilizer throughout the roots, plants can actively absorb nutrients and grow strongly against pests. As a result, KANA-chan makes it possible to grow crops faster and bigger than soil cultivation.” — Versailles Trading Corporation on IndieGoGo

The highlights

We can’t think of an easier way to produce free food. What’s more, you won’t have to wait long before tucking in.

Future designs

At this pre-production stage, there are few faults to find with KANA-chan. The only thing we’d like to see is a slightly smaller version for window sills.
