Zoom’s Immersive View feature lets you simulate an office or auditorium in an online meeting

Videoconferences can look boring, and sometimes, they just appear too serious. Fortunately, Zoom has launched a new feature that enhances the scenery and display of your meetings to prevent boredom and add a more customized layout to your calls. Check out more in today's blog.

Zoom has announced Immersive View that allows hosts to arrange participants in a single virtual background to create a more cohesive virtual meeting space. So whether you’re chatting with people from different locations or environments, Immersive View creates the feeling that you’re all in one auditorium together. Assembling a group of participants, Zoom hopes it’ll create a more consistent and friendly meeting environment.

What is the benefit of Immersive View?

Zoom’s new Immersive View feature removes any disconnection between users during a videoconference so all faces appear in one location. Not only does this feature create a sense of unity, but it’s much easier to track multiple bodies that are in close proximity with one another, rather than having to gaze your eyes all around the screen.

Best of all, hosts can easily move participants around the scene. You can even resize a participant’s image for a natural experience or to put some people at the forefront of the meeting. Additionally, you’ll have the option of automatically or manually placing participants into a virtual scene. In fact, you can make real-time adjustments, such as changing the scene or reverting back to Speaker or Gallery View at any time.

Furthermore, Immersive View comes with preloaded scenes. Or you can upload your own. So you could upload an image of your actual office’s layout to create a more realistic environment.

How many participants can be displayed?

Immersive View accommodates up to 25 participants in a scene, with various layouts for smaller numbers. Each scene tile presents a number to indicate the number of people that scene can accommodate. For over 25 members, you can still host a Zoom meeting, but additional participants will be displayed in a thumbnail strip at the top. But Zoom recommends using Gallery View for larger numbers.
