Drop Will Be a Perfect Smart Monitor For Your Pool

Drop Will Be a Perfect Smart Monitor For Your Pool

One destination none of us can avoid visiting (rather diving in!) during summers would be the pool or the beach. While the latter is location specific, the former is pretty easier to attend and are often set up within the house or somewhere in the locality. But I think spending time in the pool can be relaxing only if it’s clean or not over-purified by any chance. None of us want those horrible red eyes or itchy skins post a cool swim in the pool, do we?

Being an avid swimmer, I think this has always been one of the reasons that took a toll on my nerves because hey, I just hate rubbing my eyes due to excess chlorine in the pool. On  the other hand, I don’t think we want a dirty pool either. Bottomline, maintaining a pool is tough. Infact, I’d try to magnify the superlative here and call it “toughest” to a certain extent. So naturally, my smile broadened when I came across the Drop smart pool monitor on Kickstarter.

No More Guesswork in Analyzing Your Pool Treatment Scheme

Now you may ask what’s so cool about this pool monitor? We did come across Solar Pool Skimmers and Pool Vacuums before but what’s so different about this one? Well, you haven’t come across one which will connect to your smartphone via a mobile app and give you notifications on your pool’s health as well as alert you whenever it detects some unwanted activity in the pool. So whether it’s Bruno, your pet dog, diving accidentally in the pool to fetch his play toy or your wife slipping her way in the water while texting on her phone, you’ll get notifications for every activity that surrounds your pool at any point in time.

Custom Maintenance Plan for Your Pool

Drop is a beautifully designed solar-powered device you just have to throw in the pool and let it rest there in the water, all the time. The app will give you a custom maintenance plan specific to your pool size, type and needs. Because of the inbuilt accelerometer, you’ll get notifications whenever the monitor detects any suspicious activity, such as a sudden fall. You’ll get the app both for Android and iOS which comes with a free plan for monitoring up to 3 pools. But in case you’re a professional pool specialist, you can monitor more pools with a monthly subscription plan of $9 only. Be it algae, sanitation or pH balance, every perspective you considered for monitoring your pool is now going to be well taken care of.

However, even the team says that although Drop has been designed in a way such that it can detect suspicious activity in the pool, the set up is not intended to replace a fence, a pool alarm or plain common sense. You should, by no way, leave your kids unattended near the pool.

Available for Pre-Order on Kickstarter

Currently the Drop smart pool monitor is crowdfunding on Kickstarter where you can get it at a special Kickstarter price of $199. The MSRP of the product is going to be $299. If successful, the team estimates to start the first batch of shipping by around July 2016. For those who have literally sulked at the thought of going through the process of cleaning their pools, pre-order a Drop now and let this monitor do the tedious job from there on. Happy Gadgeting!
